Lauren Cheng is a multidisciplinary artist, storyteller, and future art therapist whose work explores the intersection of identity, emotion, and the human need for connection. Through abstract painting, she translates the intangible—memories, feelings, and moments of transformation—into fluid compositions that embrace imperfection, intuition, and depth. She grapples with the tension of "enoughness” in cultural and self- identity, inviting viewers to engage with art as both a mirror and a means of self-discovery. Her work is influenced by Eastern philosophies of “wu wei” and “wabi sabi” and Western traditions of abstract expressionism.

Beyond painting, Lauren extends her creative practice through content creation, sharing her journey of embracing vulnerability, navigating self-growth, and fostering a life rich in creativity and meaning. She believes that art, whether through brushstrokes or storytelling, is essential to our emotional and mental well-being. It serves as a bridge to our inner world, reconnecting us with the creative child within and offering a pathway toward healing and self-acceptance.

With a deep commitment to helping others, Lauren is pursuing a career in art therapy, blending her passion for mental health and artistic expression to create spaces - both online and offline - where people feel safe to explore their emotions and practice self-compassion.

She also creates a line of products under Esora, meaning “painting in the sky” in Japanese, as a tribute to creation and the Universe. Designed as subtle reminders to seek beauty in everyday moments - the smile lines of loved ones, the sway of a dandelion, the gradient of a sunset, or the resilience of weeds breaking through concrete - her work encourages a deeper connection to the quiet wonders of life.

Cheng has exhibited in several group exhibitions in Hong Kong and New York, and her solo exhibitions include Surrender (2021) and Impermanence (2021) in Hong Kong. Her work is part of private collections in several international cities, including London, Hong Kong, Copenhagen and New York.

Cheng holds a BFA from Brown University, and is currently pursuing her MFA at New York Academy of Art in New York City. She will soon begin her studies to complete a MPS in Art Therapy at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
